Travertine

Travertine is a distinctive form of terrestrial limestone, typically formed by the rapid precipitation of calcium carbonate in mineral springs. Known for its soft, organic appearance and subtle colour palette — usually featuring warm creams, beiges, and light browns — travertine brings a sense of natural elegance to any interior space.

What sets travertine apart is its unique structure. It can be cut along the vein, similar to marble, for a linear, striated appearance, or across the vein, revealing its signature surface of natural holes and indentations. These porous characteristics add texture and visual depth to the stone.

To suit a variety of design preferences, travertine is available in different finishes. At Stone Sales Limited, we offer travertine in both its Natural form — with its rustic, pitted texture — and Honed and Filled, where the surface is smoothed and the holes filled for a more refined, contemporary look. Both styles maintain the stone’s natural beauty while offering options for different levels of formality and use.

Travertine is particularly well-suited for bathrooms, kitchens, walls, and floors, bringing warmth, texture, and a spa-like ambience to any space. We supply a range of travertine tiles in both finishes, as well as travertine sheets for larger-scale applications such as countertops and cladding.

Sourced from top-quality quarries, our collection of travertine offers timeless charm and versatility — perfect for creating interiors that feel both luxurious and inviting.
