Travertine is a distinctive form of terrestrial limestone, typically formed by the rapid precipitation of calcium carbonate in mineral springs. What sets travertine apart is its unique structure. It can be cut along the vein, similar to marble, for a linear, striated appearance, or across the vein, revealing its signature surface of natural holes and indentations. These porous characteristics add texture and visual depth to the stone.
